Borka – Player Piano

No, there are no piano exercises on the new EP. Player Piano is a Vonnegutian reference to the old school way/beat of things. Borka sticks to his distinctive style – simple head nod beats without trendy production tricks, just the decades old technique of stealing, sampling, chopping and gluing. With one guest appearance, emcee N’toko.

It is hard to believe that Player Piano is only the sophomore EP by the label’s head tastemaker. And it is even harder to understand that it has been more than four years since his still very popular What Sticks. Between the two EPs Borka has kept himself busy octopus style: playing records, promoting club nights, running a label, working on two radio stations, writing as a music journalist and having a band.
